Murphy's Law: When it comes to building enduring structures, it’s not just the final result that matters to JMA. It’s everything along the way.

Red Lion (now Doubletree) Plaza, Rohnert Park

This mixed-use retail and office center borders the Foxtail Golf Club.

Designed with six buildings, construction occurred in three phases. In the first phase, we built the exterior shell of three of the buildings, and then completed various tenant improvement projects for the interiors as the building owner rented the spaces. Tenant improvement projects in the plaza ranged in variety, from a chocolate store, a Japanese restaurant, and a small grocery store to executive offices upstairs.

In the second phase we built two buildings and performed the T.I. work for each. This phase also involved building a clock tower. With an acrylic stucco exterior and concrete tile roof, it was determined it would be most cost-efficient to build the clock tower at ground level and hoist it onto the roof. This was successfully accomplished using two cranes.

As a third phase, we built the sixth building, which housed the Sonoma County Wineries Association. For an encore, in 2003, we remodeled this space for Latitude Island Grill Restaurant.
